What are the responsibilities and job description for the Audit Associate position at Distinct | North America?
Audit Senior - Bradenton - $75,000–$90,000
We’re working on behalf of a well-established Bradenton-based CPA firm — a friendly, service-driven shop with deep roots in community association (HOA, COA, Co-op / CIRA) audits and general accounting services. They’re looking for an experienced Audit Senior to step into the next phase of growth.
What you’ll be doing
- Running full-scope audits and reviews of homeowners associations, condominium corporations, co-ops and similar community structures. Expect to handle balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reviews, reserve fund audits, vendor & dues assessments, internal control tests, and board-report level deliverables.
- Managing audit engagements from planning through to final report — liaising with property managers, boards, vendors, and internal teams.
- Advising boards / management on internal-control improvements, compliance, budgeting and reserve funding matters. For many HOAs, your audit provides the financial transparency and certainty that drives trust across hundreds (sometimes thousands) of residents.
- Helping nurture a client base that values service, responsiveness and accuracy — the kind of clients who treat their auditors as trusted advisers, not just number-crunchers.
Who they want
- Someone who has real, hands-on experience auditing CIRAs — HOA, COA, co-ops or similar — not just standard corporate audits.
- Someone who appreciates the quirks and complexity of community-association accounting: reserves, assessments, mixed income sources, budgets vs actuals, vendor reconciliations, board dynamics.
- A self-starter who’s personable, professional and able to communicate technical accounting in clear, jargon-free language to board members and clients.
- Comfortable working in a more “personal-service / boutique-firm” environment — where quality, trust, and service matter as much as the numbers.
- Ideally a CPA (or working toward it) — but above all, you need to know the CIRA / HOA / co-op audit world.
What’s in it for you
- A competitive salary ($75–90k), reflecting real responsibility and a specialization many firms avoid.
- Broad exposure to community associations — HOAs, condos, co-ops — meaning varied, client-facing work and real influence over board-level financial outcomes.
- A firm with a “people-first” culture; lean teams; opportunity to grow, lead, and build long-term relationships.
- A chance to become a go-to expert in CIRA audits — a niche often in demand but rarely staffed with experienced professionals.
