We are seeking an organized, dependable Office Administrator / Construction Bookkeeper to join our established general contracting company.
This is an in-office position in Lexington, Tennessee. It may be structured as either part-time or full-time, depending on the experience, availability, and qualifications of the person we hire. This is not a remote or hybrid position. Candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance of our office.
This position combines bookkeeping, job costing, customer service, and general office administration. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, confident, and willing to ask questions, follow up, and get the information needed to keep projects and financial records accurate.
We are looking for someone who will take ownership of their responsibilities and become a trusted member of our team.
Responsibilities
- Organize and code vendor invoices by job and type of work performed
- Enter invoices and other financial transactions accurately into QuickBooks Desktop
- Process payroll and payroll tax returns using QuickBooks Desktop
- Work closely with the owner to gather job details and maintain accurate job costing
- Follow up with the owner, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain missing information
- Answer phones and provide professional, friendly customer service
- Build and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and customers
- Keep office records organized and ensure daily administrative tasks are completed accurately
- Assist with general office administration and organization
- Help keep job-related paperwork and records organized and up to date
Social Media – An Added Opportunity
We would love to find someone who enjoys social media and has experience creating posts for Facebook, Instagram, or other social media platforms.
Social media experience is not required. However, if you know how to take a good photo, write an engaging post, create simple content, or help showcase completed projects and company activities online, this could become an additional part of your role.
Qualifications
- Previous bookkeeping experience required
- Construction or job-cost accounting experience preferred, but not required
- QuickBooks Desktop experience preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Confident and comfortable asking questions and following up to obtain information
- Able to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
- Professional and friendly when dealing with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
- Able to reliably commute to our Lexington office
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
