Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by preparing animals, maintaining sterile environments, and handling equipment.
- Provide compassionate animal handling and restraint to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations or procedures.
- Administer medications and vaccines accurately following veterinary instructions.
- Support pet owners with pet care advice, feeding instructions, and post-treatment care to promote recovery and well-being.
- Manage kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, monitoring animal behavior, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for all animals in our care.
- Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, updating patient records and answering client inquiries.
- Assist with laboratory work such as sample collection, processing tests, and recording results to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Handle diverse animals including dogs, cats, and occasionally small mammals with confidence.
Experience
- Veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with animal restraint techniques across various species including dogs, cats and small mammals.
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic environment with exposure to critical care situations is advantageous.
- Strong animal handling skills combined with an understanding of pet care best practices to ensure safe interactions.
