THE HIRING COMPANY: The Kitchen at Discovery is a unique indoor/outdoor entertainment complex that features America's fastest growing sport, pickleball, as well as a great food and beverage setting. Our venue features 6 indoor and 4 outdoor courts that are built to stadium and competition specifications. Our courts have up to twice the surface area of recreational courts that are common in other pickleball complexes. A full complement of indoor games, outdoor games, ice skating, and a family friendly atmosphere will provide patrons a great experience. The Kitchen at Discovery is one of multiple amenities built and planned for local residents at Aria and the greater Columbia community.
SPORTS & EVENT PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR POSITION; We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and motivated Events & Sports professional to lead our daily event programming to new heights. You will be responsible for planning and executing sports programming for various offerings on property, including but not limited to: pickleball, bocce ball, corn hole, and ice skating. This position will work directly alongside our event sales representative in our corporate office at Discovery Capital.
SPORTS & EVENT PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and oversee pickleball/recreation tournaments, leagues, clinics, and social events to engage and attract new players.
- Foster relationships within the pickleball community, local businesses, and organizations to promote The Kitchen and the sport.
- Plan and maintain daily programming calendar centering around pickleball, bocce ball, corn hole, ice skating, and more.
- Create a welcoming and customer-focused environment for members and guests. Address inquiries, resolve concerns, and ensure exceptional customer experiences.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to develop and execute promotional strategies through sales and marketing campaigns, including discount programs, events and tournaments.
- Ensure efficient department operation, as well as maintain production goals, productivity, efficiency, quality and customer-service standards.
SPORTS & EVENT PROGRAMMING DIRECTOR QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in sports management, recreation, event programming, or a related field.
- Proven track record in successfully managing and growing pickleball programs or similar sports initiatives.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to make data-driven decisions to achieve program and financial objectives.
- Passion for promoting the sport of pickleball
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service to guests
- CPR and AED Certified within the first 30 days of hire
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
