Responsibilities
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that align with preschool curriculum standards, focusing on early childhood education principles.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity, social skills, and emotional well-being among children.
- Supervise and engage with children during activities such as playtime, arts and crafts, storytime, and outdoor exploration to promote active learning.
- Monitor and support children’s individual needs, including those with disabilities or special education requirements, ensuring inclusive care and attention.
- Maintain accurate records of children’s progress, behavior management strategies, and daily activities to inform ongoing development assessments.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times; administer first aid when necessary and respond promptly to emergencies.
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to communicate children's progress, behavioral observations, and developmental milestones.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive discipline techniques to create a respectful learning environment.
- Support the overall caregiving environment by assisting with diapering, infant care (if applicable), and maintaining cleanliness of the classroom.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities related to childhood development, special education, or caregiving best practices.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in preschool settings or daycare environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education methodologies.
- Experience with classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement.
- Familiarity with working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in special education or behavior management are advantageous.
- Hands-on experience in toddler care, infant care, babysitting, nannying or caregiving roles will be considered valuable assets.
