About the Role:
The Discovery Schools High Needs Teaching Assistant (TA) plays a crucial role in supporting a student with diverse learning needs within the educational environment. The TA will work closely with teachers to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and provide tailored support to help student achieve his/her academic and social goals. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children or individuals with special needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in education, psychology, or a related field.
- Certification in special education or related training.
- Experience working with students with significant behavioral needs.
- Substitute certification.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and adapting materials for students with high needs.
- Provide one-on-one support to students during classroom activities and assessments.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, reporting findings to the teaching staff.
- Facilitate social interactions and promote positive behavior among students.
- Collaborate with special education staff, parents, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive support system for students.
- Assist with crisis management.
