High School Diploma required. Sixty college credit hours preferred. Assistance to obtain a substitute certification provided.
As a school bus driver, you are responsible for bringing children to and from school, ensuring timely pick-up and safe drop-off in the process. While you are on the road, you are responsible for maintaining a safe environment for everyone inside the vehicle. When not driving a bus, you will be responsible for supporting students with more significant disabilities and the adults who work with them, and other tasks as assigned.
CDL with Class B or C endorsed, or willingness to obtain, is required.
Additional Teacher Assistant Job Expectations:
The individual will be responsible for assisting the supervising teacher in individual and group instruction, charting of student programs, and supporting student’s health and hygiene may be required. The individual must be able to work in a positive manner with students, staff, and community members.
· Assists teacher in supporting classroom instruction.
· Demonstrates understanding of student problems.
· Demonstrates initiative and creativity with students and their program.
· Follows through with prescribed behavioral management programs.
· Supervises students during recess and lunch.
· Ensures students travel around the building and the campus safely.
· Assists with the physical management of students.
· Keeps records of daily interactions with students.
· Assists with loading and unloading of students on buses.
∙ Assists the teacher in keeping students engaged or on task during “down time” or in between activities.
· Works with small or individual groups to support or reinforce teacher prepared lesson plans or activities (including physical activities).
· Organizes and/or prepares materials to support classroom activities as assigned by the teacher.
· Engages in both physical and non-physical activities with the student.
· May assist the students with bathroom/toileting needs and other activities of daily living.
· Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
