Discovery Point Child Care Center – Aftercare Program
We are looking for a caring, energetic, and dependable Aftercare Teacher to join our team! This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children and creating a safe, engaging, and fun environment at the end of the school day.
Position Overview
The Aftercare Teacher supports children during after-school hours by providing meaningful activities, supervision, and a nurturing space where children can relax, play, and continue learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a warm, safe, and welcoming aftercare environment
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that encourage creativity, teamwork, and independence
- Support children’s social-emotional development through positive guidance
- Supervise indoor and outdoor play while ensuring safety at all times
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom and activity space
- Communicate positively and professionally with families and team members
- Collaborate with other staff to support daily routines and center expectations
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience working with children in a preschool, aftercare, or similar setting
- Understanding of early childhood development and best practices
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Reliable, patient, and enthusiastic about working with children
Preferred (but not required)
- Degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Experience working with diverse groups of children
