Position Summary:
Discovery Life Sciences is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join our dynamic finance team in the life sciences industry. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in driving financial strategy, supporting decision-making, and optimizing performance for a company dedicated to advancing healthcare innovation. This position requires a deep understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis, including revenue forecasting, cost modeling, and sales pipeline review and analysis. The Senior Financial Analyst will collaborate cross-functionally with executive, commercial, and operational teams to provide actionable insights and support long-term growth objectives.
Must-Have Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
- 5 years of financial analysis experience with increasing responsibility and concrete examples of process improvement; life sciences industry preferred, but not required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, VBA) and financial modeling.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Financial Force, NetSuite) and FP&A tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management or cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record of delivering accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Develop and maintain complex financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
- Pipeline Valuation: Analyze and assess the financial viability of product and service pipelines, including revenue projections and cost estimates.
- Business Partnering: Collaborate with department heads (e.g., Business Units, Sales, Accounting) to provide financial insights, identify cost-saving opportunities, and align budgets with strategic goals.
- Reporting: Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including variance analysis, KPIs, and trends, to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Scenario Analysis: Conduct “what-if” analyses to evaluate the financial impact of market conditions, regulatory changes, or shifts in project timelines.
- Capital Expenditure Analysis: Evaluate investment opportunities, including equipment purchases, facility expansions, or partnerships, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure financial processes adhere to industry regulations and assess risks tied to intellectual property, pricing, or reimbursement strategies.

Location and work hours:
- Hybrid – at least 3 days per week onsite in Huntsville, AL (Initial training period will be 5 days per week onsite)
- Work schedule is Monday – Friday flexible start time between 7am – 9am
- Less than 5% domestic or international travel required for mandatory site meetings and trainings
