Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Montessori Guide role based in Springfield, MO. The Montessori Guide will prepare and maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects Montessori principles and supports independence, curiosity, and respect. Daily responsibilities include observing students, planning and presenting lessons, guiding individual and small-group work, and assessing student progress. The Guide will collaborate with colleagues and families to support each child’s social, emotional, and academic growth, and will participate in school meetings, professional development, and community events. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, ensuring a safe and orderly classroom, and contributing to the ongoing development of the school’s Montessori program.
Qualifications
- Montessori certification or training from a recognized Montessori organization, or strong commitment to completing Montessori training.
- Experience working with children in early childhood or elementary education settings, preferably in a Montessori classroom.
- Knowledge of child development and ability to observe, document, and respond to individual learning needs.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and colleagues in a diverse community.
- Ability to create a calm, orderly, and engaging learning environment that promotes independence and respect.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Commitment to the school’s mission of educating the whole child and supporting each learner’s full potential.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the classroom, including moving materials, engaging in floor work with children, and supervising outdoor activities.
