This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Austin, TX. Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club is seeking a Head Golf Professional to join the Golf Operations Department. The Head Golf Professional will be responsible for leading the Golf Operations Department and working closely with the Director of Golf, Director of Agronomy and other Department Heads The position will promote an exceptional “club member golf experience” and provide creative services and programs for all members and guests. The Head Golf Professional is expected to be a strategic leader of the golf experience and and manage multiple areas, including golf operations, retail, player development, and administration. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees. Key Responsibilities Oversee tee time reservation, starting, monitoring, and pace of play. Track and verify all players and guests, green fees, golf cars, club care, and other charges necessary, and facilitate accurate accounting and recordkeeping. Oversee golf car fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping. Ensure the proper storage, safety, and cleaning of golf equipment. Oversee the operations of a well-managed practice facility. Provide professional club repair and club fitting services. Administer the Rules of Golf and educate staff. Plan and conduct group lesson programs and clinics to include, but not limited to juniors, ladies, and beginners. Promote and provide Rules of Golf clinics to the membership. Assist in the retail merchandise concession in step with the mission of the golf operation and facility. Assist the Retail Merchandiser in development of buying plans and all golf related purchasing. Establish accurate recordkeeping policies and procedures. Supervise and train all golf shop staff to maximize sales opportunities. Ensure member database includes and tracks important dates, spending, sizes, preferences. Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop. Develop, provide, and oversee an enhanced golf instruction program offering individual and group clinics for all levels. Ensure that the services of a well trained staff of professional instructors are available where required. Develop and oversee player development programs. Focus on programs for women, families, seniors, and juniors. Responsible for the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services. Assist in the development and preparation of budgets, including forecasting and review of all golf operations revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. Ensure systems controls are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources. Maintain a close working relationship with the Director of Golf and Golf Course Superintendent providing advice on course playability and tournament set up. Coordinate plans with the Food and Beverage and Events teams for golf functions. Develop and manage an innovative tournament, events and clinics that service all member types. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Sports Management, Recreation) is a plus. Active PGA or LPGA membership, with a minimum of five (5) years of experience working as a Golf Professional. Experience and proven track record can be a comparable substitute. Extensive knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and teaching methods, with a passion for sharing the game with others. Fundamental knowledge of tournament operations. Proficiency in golf club fitting, equipment maintenance, and golf shop operations. Fundamental supervisory practices and principles. Skilled golf ability and self-presentation on the golf course. Golf instruction knowledge and teaching abilities. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Additional Requirements Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members. Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
