JOB TITLE: Engineer Tech
DEPARTMENT: Engineering
REPORTS TO: Engineering Manager
SUMMARY
Engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structure of building and maintaining grounds by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- 5 days a week, weekends and evenings required.
- Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies for job assignments.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and Resort standards.
- Maintains time and unit repair records.
- Performs necessary activities including but not limited to painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and general maintenance of units and equipment. Reports problems exceeding employee’s ability to supervisor immediately.
- Works directly with contractors to insure proper maintenance of guest rooms and common areas and furnishings.
- Monitors workers engaged in contracted ground maintenance activities such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse. Reports problems and offers suggestions to Supervisor or Resort Management.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Employee must be capable of working independently.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of general building and grounds maintenance, time management and procedures; including business correspondence, record keeping and filing systems.
- Knowledge of timeshare industry, with concentration on maintenance operations.
- Ability to perform complex Maintenance tasks involving organization, the use of judgment; understand, interpret and apply appropriate rules, regulations and written directions to operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; effectively meet and communicate with the public in situations requiring tact and poise; apply sound judgment in assignment work load priorities, assume responsibility in recognizing scope of authority.
- Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which include standing for extended periods of time; frequently walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to communicate with and elicit cooperation from others and to assimilate and understand information, in manner consistent with essential job functions.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as length, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic business math.
