About The Position
DYNW seeks a Branch Manager to oversee retail operations within Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest, with core duties focused on management at Lolo Pass Visitor Center (Lolo Pass VC), ID-MT.
Title: Branch Manager
Duration: year-round, seasonal ranges between part time and full time
Hours: 30-40 hours per week with seasonal variances reflecting visitation
Compensation range: $26.00- $29.00 per hour
Benefits package: 401k with employer matching, paid Federal holidays (employee receives x2 hourly pay rate when holidays are worked), accrued sick and vacation time
Retail operations are critical to advancing DYNW’s mission–a Branch Manager is directly responsible for successfully managing retail operations at one or more visitor centers for DYNW. Management at a site, or branch, includes daily interaction with the general public, interfacing with public lands managing agencies and staff, commanding a mastery of local interpretive information, interfacing with DYNW’s accounting and administrative staff, as well as working closely with vendors to create compelling retail items.
The position is primarily based in the Bitterroot Mountain Range of the Rocky Mountains along the Idaho-Montana border and provides management and front of house service including stocking, training, and support to DYNW’s operation at Lolo Pass VC. It also supports DYNW’s agency partners in their staffing and daily operations of North Fork Ranger District in Orofino, ID, on approximately a monthly basis.
This position reports directly to the CEO of Discover Your Northwest.
General And Retail Duties
Assuring that merchandise is displayed in a neat, attractive manner, that there is adequate stock on display and in storage to meet the sales needs of the site.
Assuring that there are adequate loss prevention security safeguards for the merchandise and cash on hand; that sales are recorded with appropriate attention being given to accounting and inventory records, reporting schedules, and report requirements.
Hiring, scheduling, and managing seasonal staff on an as needed basis.
Training agency partners staff in DYNW retail practices.
Leveraging basic business acumen.
Conducting high-quality, accurate general cash handling and cashiering.
Inventory management and accurate, punctual sales reporting through cloud-based systems.
Product ordering and custom item design in coordination with DYNW’s Director of Retail Operations and DYNW vendors.
Merchandise ordering and receiving.
Other duties as assigned.
Data And Reporting Duties
Preparing, compiling and sorting sales, deposit, and ordering documents for data entry.
Verifying and correcting data where necessary.
Leveraging basic computer skills for Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Sales Force and point of sale (POS) software.
Additional Details
Interest and ability to cultivate increased sales, visitation, and implement lucrative programmatic opportunities for the general public in collaboration with agency staff.
Previous events at Lolo Pass VC include fun runs, interpretive walks, interpretive talks, living history programs.
This position requires a high level of cooperation with Federal agency staff, in this case USDA Forest Service (USFS) staff.
As a cooperating partner to public lands managers throughout the Northwest, DYNW’s partnerships are strategically important to our business model and to advancing our mission.
On-site computer equipment and training is provided for data entry.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation in diverse, often inclement weather, required on a regular basis to/from Lolo Pass VC.
Ability to speak with medium and large groups of people.
Ability to move throughout the pathways, improved walkways, sales floor, and parking areas of Lolo Pass VC and Nez Perce-Clearwater NF grounds in varying weather conditions.
Ability to squat, lift, and reach required for stocking and inventory management required.
Work on weekends and some holidays required.
Transportation through accumulated snow, ice, and winter conditions is frequent.
Ability to lift 50 lbs required.
