Discount Smoke is Carlinville's top-rated vape, tobacco, hemp, and liquor shop. We carry a huge selection of products — from vapes and e-cigarettes to liquor, beer, hemp, glass pipes, and more — and we're known for genuinely great customer service. We're looking for a friendly, dependable person to join our team part-time.
What you'll do:
- Greet customers and help them find the right product — whether that's a vape, a bottle of liquor, or something new they want to try
- Ring up sales and handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Check IDs and follow all Illinois age-verification laws for tobacco and alcohol sales
- Keep the store clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Build product knowledge over time so you can make solid recommendations
- Build relationships with regular customers (in a town like Carlinville, that happens naturally)
What we're looking for:
- Must be 21 years of age or older (required by Illinois law for tobacco and liquor sales)
- Reliable and punctual — this is a small team and we depend on each other
- Friendly personality and comfortable talking to people of all ages
- Available to work evenings and weekends
- Basic cash-handling and math skills
- Willing to learn about our products — vapes, hemp , tobacco, and liquor/beer
- Able to stand for extended periods during a shift
Nice to have (but not required):
- Previous retail, cashier, or customer service experience
- Knowledge of vape devices, hemp products, or spirits
- Experience with POS systems
