What are the responsibilities and job description for the Female Social Personal Assistant – MCONCL position at Disability North?
Hours: 4 hours per week including weekends
Area: Walker, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Rate: £14.00 per hour
We are currently recruiting for an experienced personal assistant for a loving, happy little boy with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Global developmental delay. Marley always requires full supervision as he will eat non-food items and has no awareness of danger. He currently resides with his mum and they have 2 dogs, so being animal friendly is essential. This role would suit someone that has experience working with children with autism and is a necessary requirement.
Marley enjoys a variety of sensory stimulating activities including trampolining, swimming and trips to the local parks, he would like to visit and explore new venues with enclosed spaces to widen his experiences within the community. Routine is very important to Marley as he can dysregulate if sudden changes occur and due to his non-verbal autism, he cannot tell you directly what is wrong, Marley uses hand gestures and leading to show and tell you, his needs. Marley can on rare occasions become dysregulated so coping strategies to manage these must be demonstrated and implemented to ensure his safety at all times.
Marley enjoys music and dance as well as playing with water and currently has a fleece blankie that he uses to self soothe.
Marley is independent in eating and drinking but monitoring his food intake is required.
The main tasks within this role will include supporting Marley in accessing the local community, accompanying and supporting him to engage in his chosen activities and personal care including toileting and assistance with washing hands.
We are preferably looking for a car driver with a full clean UK driving licence for this role, however this is not essential as Marley will use public transport and regularly enjoys trips on the metro.
