The Field Install Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, and troubleshooting of Dirt Prep systems at customer sites. This role is highly technical, focused on ensuring that equipment and GPS systems are correctly set up, optimized, and integrated into customer workflows. Unlike sales-oriented positions, this role emphasizes technical expertise, customer support, and hands-on fieldwork to ensure maximum performance of our products.
Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and calibrate GPS-enabled equipment on earth-moving machinery and related construction equipment.
Perform system diagnostics, software updates, and troubleshooting on hardware and software.
Train operators and site personnel on system use, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
Conduct quality checks to ensure installations meet Dirt Prep technical standards.
Collaborate with engineering and product support teams to resolve complex technical issues.
Document installation processes, site conditions, and any adjustments for internal tracking and customer records.
Provide field feedback to the product team regarding system performance, customer usage, and potential improvements.
Maintain tools, testing equipment, and installation vehicles in good working order.
Adhere to all safety regulations and site-specific requirements.
Required:
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Experience with heavy equipment, GPS systems, or construction machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and installation guides.
Proficiency with basic computer systems, software installation, and troubleshooting.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently to customer sites.
Willingness to travel frequently to job sites and overnight locations.
Preferred:
Previous experience with Leica, Trimble, or other GPS construction systems.
Experience working in construction, earthmoving, or survey-related industries.
Associate’s or technical degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related field.
OSHA or other safety certifications.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Willingness to work on active construction sites with appropriate safety gear.
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
