Position Summary:
The Lube Technician / Light Mechanic at Dirt Works Unlimited is responsible for performing routine maintenance, preventative service, and light mechanical repairs on a fleet of heavy equipment, trucks, and support vehicles. This role ensures equipment remains in safe, efficient working condition to support ongoing construction and site development operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, fluid checks, and basic inspections.
Properly grease equipment and components on a regular schedule and ensure all machines are adequately serviced.
Assist with light mechanical repairs such as brake service, battery replacement, hose and belt replacement, and minor component repairs.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of how to change oil, service fluids, and maintain equipment to manufacturer and company standards.
Conduct pre- and post-service inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential mechanical issues; report findings to supervisors or senior mechanics.
Maintain accurate service records, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, and parts usage.
Support shop organization by keeping tools, work areas, and service bays clean, safe, and orderly.
Assist senior mechanics with more advanced diagnostics and repairs as needed.
Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices when performing maintenance and repairs.
Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding equipment status, service needs, and repair timelines.
Travel to job sites as needed to perform field maintenance and service calls.
Qualifications / Skills:
Previous experience (1–3 years preferred) in equipment maintenance, automotive service, diesel technology, or a related field.
Must be mechanically minded with a strong understanding of basic equipment maintenance, including oil changes and greasing machines.
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical components.
Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, carrying, bending, and working in shop or outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
Familiarity with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop safety practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to preventative maintenance standards.
Willingness to learn and grow mechanical skills under experienced technicians.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required; CDL is a plus but not required.
Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.
Flexibility to work variable hours and travel to project sites across Kentucky and southern Indiana as required.
