Job Summary:
DIRKS HEAVY CONTRACTORS are expanding operations and seeking a skilled Equipment Mechanic to support our Utility Services, Civil, and Commercial Dirt Work Projects. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a fleet of heavy equipment used in earthmoving and site development.
We are looking for individuals with strong mechanical expertise, a solid work ethic, and a stable work history. At Dirks, Honesty, Integrity, and experience are valued and rewarded!
Qualifications:
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Experience working on heavy construction equipment (dozers, excavators, loaders, skid steers, etc.).
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and equipment inspections.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (year-round work).
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment used in dirt work and construction operations.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety inspections on all equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the field and shop.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Ensure all equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
- Assist with transporting equipment as needed.
- Respond to field service calls and minimize downtime on job sites.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
