Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Part-Time Post Secondary Specialist to join our Learning-to-Work Program for High School students. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support high school students in their post-secondary education journey, providing individualized and group support to the students as they prepare for life after graduation. The role focuses on guiding students through the college, career, and alternative pathway. As the Post Secondary Specialist you will work closely with families, students and staff to begin and complete financial and institutional applications that align with their strengths, interests, and long-term goals. You will play a vital role in enhancing student engagement and ensuring smooth program operations. Your enthusiasm and expertise will help create an empowering learning environment that motivates students to achieve their educational goals.
Duties
- Deliver engaging and informative instruction tailored to post-secondary students across various disciplines
- Provide personalized academic advising to help students navigate their educational pathways and overcome challenges
- Conduct family outreach calls and virtual meetings in English and Spanish to strengthen parent involvement in postsecondary planning.
- Support students with registration processes, program requirements, and academic policies
- Guide students through the scholarship and financial aid process, including Excelsior, DREAM Act, EOP, HEOP, FAFSA, and TAP applications to completion
- Coordinate student workshops, orientation sessions, and support programs to promote student retention and success
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, family meetings, individualized student plans and program participation in compliance with program policies
- Participate in school-wide college and career events, such as college fairs, financial aid workshops, and career panel discussions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, business, social service or other related field
- Proven experience in higher education teaching or education administration, preferably within a university setting
- Strong knowledge of post-secondary education systems, policies, and student support services
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and understand their unique needs
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage students and collaborate with colleagues
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail
- Experience working with students in academic advising, mentoring, or instructional roles is highly desirable
- Familiarity with educational technology platforms and record-keeping systems, including Excel, Salesforce and New Vision, used in higher education
- A passion for fostering student success and creating an inclusive learning environment
