Position Summary

This is a working supervisor position that will oversee 2 FTEs while also working a caseload of families or individuals in need of targeted prevention from homelessness. Families and Individuals who are permanently housed but are at risk of homelessness due to rent arrears, and or past due utilities in selected and targeted zip codes across Pinellas County.

This is a field-based position with no opportunity for remote or work from home.

The Supervisor - of Targeted Prevention will play an integral role in support, coaching, and guidance for a pair of Targeted case managers who are working with adults and families, or who are at risk of homelessness due to an inability to cover rent or utilities, and who would otherwise be homeless without prevention assistance.

The Supervisor of Targeted Prevention will ensure that the case management services being delivered are individualized, and recovery-focused and allow individuals the opportunity to learn how to manage their own recovery and advocacy process.

This position will be a subject matter expert on behavioral health case management and homeless interventions that serve to enhance the development of recovery, natural supports, as well as coping and self-management skills.

The supervisor will ensure that the case management team services, emphasize personal safety, self-worth, confidence, and growth, connection to the community, boundary setting, planning, self-advocacy, personal fulfillment, and development of social supports as well as effective communication.

The position will monitor that the Case Management team services provided emphasize the acquisition; development; and expansion of rehabilitative skills needed to move forward in recovery. The supervisor will ensure that the Case Management teams collaborate with other service providers, such as psychiatry, SOAR, and behavioral health services. If the adult or family are not engaged in and needs these other services, the supervisor will provide education on these services and help to coordinate initiation, as clinically appropriate.

If these services are recommended, but the adult or family are not yet willing to engage, this should be documented in the service notes and the supervisor will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring the documentation. This is a field position. The Supervisor - Of Targeted Prevention is responsible for ensuring an annual client facing client care number of 10,716 hours which reflects the minimum annual number of 1,786 hours of client facing client care per each member of the Prevention team (6). Achieving the minimum required weekly, monthly and annual client facing client care hours is an essential function of this position.

Directions for Living is an essential services provider. All Directions for Living employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services to the people that we serve in the event of an emergency, pandemic or other disaster situation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in the Human Services field with a minimum of two years' leadership experience within an outpatient community mental health organization, homeless services organization or social service agency
  • Must have or immediately acquire knowledge of all community resources.
  • Must be computer literate and be proficient in Outlook, Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft Word. Must be able to work proficiently in a Windows environment and be able to learn other software applications quickly. Must be competent in the use of electronic health records, and be able to use multiple electronic systems including the Pinellas Homeless Information Management System (P-HMIS)
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to use personal vehicle to transport clients. Must have and maintain clear driving record, must have valid Florida Driver License, maintain required automobile insurance coverage.
