Direction Behavioral Health Associates, LLC is a dedicated team providing high-quality mental health care for children and adolescents. Since 2008, we’ve supported over 3,000 adolescents and their families through group therapy, family support, and medication management.
We’re seeking a Utilization Manager to lead authorizations, concurrent reviews, and payer communication for a census of 40 patients. This role sits at the intersection of clinical care and revenue cycle and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on access to care. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage initial and concurrent authorizations for IOP/PHP levels of care
- Communicate directly with commercial and state payers
- Track authorizations, length of stay, denial patterns, and payer trends
- Prepare and submit clinical documentation that meets medical-necessity standards
- Partner closely with clinical, intake, and billing teams to support smooth operations
- Assist other administrative staff as needed, leveraging cross-training to ensure seamless operations.
- Learn and grow across multiple operational areas, including payer requirements and utilization review processes.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills with payers, clinical staff, and internal teams.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple payer timelines and competing priorities.
- Flexible and willingness to assist other administrative staff as needed.
- Ability to translate clinical information into clear, concise, and accurate medical-necessity documentation.
- Experience in behavioral health utilization review/management preferred but not required.
- RN, LPN, LCSW, LICSW, or LMHC preferred but not required.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, Monday-Friday with flexible scheduling within business hours.
