The Role
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM ST
As a Prototype Automotive Mechanic, you'll help build and maintain the vehicles of tomorrow. In a fast-paced prototype environment, you'll diagnose, repair, and modify pre-production and experimental vehicles—prepping cars for unreleased components, upholding quality standards, and tuning vehicles coming off the line to meet engineering specs. It's a hands-on opportunity to work with new technologies, advanced vehicle systems, and collaborative cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do
- Modify and prep prototype cars and trucks for testing and development
- Install and service unreleased components across mechanical and electrical systems
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and adjustments on vehicles straight off the line
- Partner with engineers and project leaders to support prototype builds
- Maintain detailed repair and service records
- Operate and maintain shop tools and equipment, keeping them ready and safe
- Contribute to shop organization, clean-up, and safety compliance
What You Bring
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on automotive mechanic experience
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating shop equipment
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset
Preferred
- Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related field
- ASE or State Mechanic Certification(s)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Prior prototype, pre-production, or dealership experience
