Head of IT Security, Data Governance, and IT Risk: International Company with Multiple U.S. Subsidiaries. Northern Virginia, On-Site Role.

Our global organization is seeking a senior technology leader to oversee enterprise‐wide IT Security, Data Governance, and IT Risk across our international footprint, including several U.S.‐based subsidiaries. This role owns the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of our security posture, data management framework, and risk governance model.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global IT security program, including threat management, incident response, vulnerability management, and security operations.
• Build and mature a comprehensive data governance framework covering data quality, metadata, classification, retention, and compliance.
• Oversee IT risk management, including risk assessments, controls, audits, remediation planning, and reporting to executive leadership.
• Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to embed security and governance into the lifecycle of mixed hardware‐and‐software products.
• Drive policy development, security architecture standards, and enterprise‐wide compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
• Manage vendor risk, third‐party assessments, and security expectations for suppliers and partners.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high‐performing team across security, governance, and risk disciplines.
• Collaborate with global and U.S. subsidiary leadership to ensure consistent practices, alignment, and visibility across regions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CRISC, or similar.
• Experience serving as a senior IT security or risk leader for a company that designs, manufactures, sells, and delivers integrated hardware‐and‐software products.
• Strong background in enterprise security architecture, cloud security, identity management, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated success building governance programs and leading cross‐functional initiatives in complex, distributed environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence executives, technical teams, and global stakeholders.
