What are the responsibilities and job description for the Box Truck Driver and Fitness Equipment Installer (Non-CDL) position at Direct Fitness Solutions?
Direct Fitness Solutions – Mundelein, IL
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $23–$28 per hour, based on experience, plus overtime.
Job Overview
Direct Fitness Solutions is looking for an experienced, hardworking Lead Driver / Fitness Equipment Installer to join our team.
We deliver and install commercial fitness equipment for schools, colleges, athletic facilities, and fitness centers throughout the Midwest.
IMPORTANT: This is NOT a driving-only or basic delivery position.
This is a physically demanding, hands-on position. Our projects range from delivering and installing a few pieces of cardio equipment to completely removing and replacing entire school weight rooms and fitness facilities.
The right candidate must be comfortable performing physical labor, operating a box truck, assembling heavy commercial equipment, and taking the lead on job sites.
Some installations involve stairs, elevators, tight spaces, heavy equipment, removing existing flooring, and long days. Every project is different.
We need someone who can work hard, think on their feet, solve problems, and take responsibility for completing an installation correctly.
Responsibilities
- Drive company non-CDL box trucks to customer locations throughout the Midwest.
- Lead equipment deliveries and installations, working alongside other team members.
- Safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy commercial fitness equipment.
- Assemble and install commercial treadmills, strength machines, power racks, benches, and other fitness equipment.
- Remove and relocate existing fitness equipment, including disassembly when necessary.
- Assist with removing existing rubber flooring and preparing spaces for new equipment or flooring installations.
- Move heavy equipment through hallways, doorways, stairwells, and elevators using appropriate equipment and safe moving procedures.
- Read and follow assembly instructions, equipment layouts, and installation plans.
- Verify all equipment is installed correctly, safely, and professionally.
- Identify and resolve installation challenges on-site.
- Communicate with customers and our operations team regarding job progress and any issues.
- Assist with warehouse duties, loading trucks, and preparing upcoming installations when not on the road.
Physical Requirements – Please Read Before Applying
This is a labor-intensive position. Candidates must be prepared for:
- Regular lifting and moving of heavy equipment, including lifting 50 lbs independently and heavier items with team assistance or mechanical equipment.
- Repeated bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, carrying, and standing throughout the workday.
- Moving large, bulky equipment in challenging environments.
- Working on projects involving stairs, elevators, and restricted access.
- Physically demanding installation days that may extend beyond a standard eight-hour shift.
- Early starts, overtime, and travel throughout the Midwest as project schedules require.
- Working as part of a team while also taking responsibility for leading installations.
If you are looking for a position that primarily involves driving, making deliveries, or light warehouse work, this is not the right job.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Experience driving box trucks strongly preferred.
- Experience with equipment installation, moving, construction, mechanical assembly, or similar hands-on work.

- Comfortable with physically demanding work and changing job-site conditions.
- Willingness to travel and work overtime when required.
- No CDL required for the company vehicles used in this position.
