What are the responsibilities and job description for the Monday, Wednesday, Friday Courier position at Direct Delivery Express, Inc.?
Hello, we are a reputable and established company who has been in business with the same ownership for over 30 years.
We have an opportunity for someone who is responsible and enjoys driving.
We need a driver who can be available Monday from 8am to 5pm, Wednesday from 11am to 7pm, Friday from 8am to 5pm, and every other weekend.
There are no scheduled routes at this time, so it is basically an "on call" position, but there is some regularity to the frequency and type of delivery requests that we get.
Drivers are paid between $20 and $40 per hour for the time they are driving. Average pay for this position in the past was about$400 per weekend and $400 - $500 for the weekdays, depending on what runs come in.
There are many opportunities to pick up other shifts or fill in when we are busy or other drivers go on vacation.
Drivers receive a fuel surcharge on top of regular pay, to account for changing gas prices.
Our couriers drive their own vehicles, unless a van is needed, which we would then provide.
Almost all of our deliveries can be done in a car. There will be local deliveries as well as longer runs, to Chicago, Indy, and other locations within a 300 mile radius.
Much of our business is in professional or medical offices. We also do deliveries to airports, factories, construction sites, residences, etc.
Drivers must be over the age of 25 and have a good driving record (for insurance reasons), must have a valid driver's license, and a reliable, presentable vehicle that is covered by insurance.
Cars that get good gas mileage make their drivers more money.
Drivers need to be able to lift /- 20lbs, and be comfortable driving at night.
Many of our smaller deliveries originate and end in South Bend or Mishawaka, so a driver living in South Bend/Mishawaka/Granger is required.
This is a contracted position. Drivers receive a 1099. We do not take out for taxes or offer health insurance at this time.
