A global law firm is seeking a 3rd–5th year associate to join its Life Sciences & Technology Transactions Practice in San Diego. This role offers the opportunity to work with startups, growth-stage companies, and global enterprises on complex transactions, licensing, strategic alliances, joint ventures, collaborations, and IP-related matters in the life sciences and technology sectors.
Requirements

J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership

B.S./M.S./Pharm.D or equivalent in life sciences, biomedical engineering, or related fields

3–5 years of relevant experience at a law firm or in-house legal department

Strong knowledge of IP and commercial contract law, particularly in life sciences, biotech, neurotechnology, digital health, and AI

Familiarity with FDA regulations, Bayh-Dole Act, and GDPR

Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple client demands in a fast-paced environment
Preferred

Ph.D./M.D. or M.B.A. in relevant field

Experience with cross-border transactions, international licensing, M&A, and IP due diligence

Industry experience at pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies

Knowledge of AI/ML applications in life sciences
Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate licensing and commercial agreements

Advise on IP matters for corporate partnerships, collaborations, and joint ventures

Support M&A, financing, and due diligence transactions

Compensation

$260,000–$355,000 per year, depending on experience
