Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Litigation / IP Legal Assistant to support a top-tier law firm in Silicon Valley. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in complex litigation and intellectual property matters, preferably within a large law firm environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex litigation matters from inception through trial and post-trial
- Maintain and organize case files (physical and electronic), ensuring accuracy and accessibility
- Track deadlines, filings, and court dates using docketing systems
- Conduct legal and factual research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, and other research tools
- Summarize transcripts, case law, statutes, and other legal materials to support case strategy
- Draft and revise legal documents, including:
- pleadings
- discovery requests and responses
- subpoenas
- deposition summaries
- pre-trial filings
- Assist with deposition and trial preparation, including:
- trial binders
- exhibits
- witness lists
- Manage the discovery process, including collection, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI)
- Coordinate with vendors and internal legal technology teams on e-discovery platforms and tools
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of litigation legal assistant experience, ideally within an AmLaw or large law firm
- Experience supporting IP litigation matters strongly preferred
- Proficiency with legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER)
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and document management systems
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently

Range: $45-$06 DOE
