About the Role

Direct Counsel is seeking a Banking & Finance Associate to join a prestigious Am Law 100 firm in Charlotte, with flexibility for candidates to work from Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, or Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years of experience handling mortgage origination, warehouse financing, securitization, and related transactions involving commercial and residential mortgage loans.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise clients on mortgage finance transactions, including origination and securitization.
• Assist with warehouse financing and structured finance transactions.
• Work closely with financial institutions and investors on residential and commercial mortgage loans.
• Draft and negotiate transactional documents for complex finance deals.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school (Class of 2020 to 2023).
• Strong academic credentials.
• Relevant law firm experience in banking, finance, or mortgage transactions.
• Excellent transactional, drafting, and negotiation skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $235,000 – $365,000 (for JD classes 2020–2023). Actual salary may vary based on experience and qualifications.
