The Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP) is a residential, sex offense specific treatment program in a modified therapeutic community and secure setting that provides services to over 700 individuals who have been civilly committed for sexual offending. MSOP is a national leader in the industry and is committed to providing services on the leading edge of the comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and management of clients. MSOP has facilities in Moose Lake and St. Peter, MN.
Under supervision, Psychology Interns provide psychological services, including psychological evaluations and individual and group psychotherapy, to clients at the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP). The individuals in this position also conduct research, provide psychological consultation services regarding individual and cultural diversity, differential diagnoses, effective treatment strategies, and other related issues as requested by treatment teams, other disciplines, and MSOP staff. The individual presents information regarding psychological assessment results, client’s treatment progress, and other pertinent data to appropriate authorities within the facility as required. The individual will participate in committees addressing performance improvement, program development, and other related topics as requested or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a doctoral student at a CPA or an APA accredited school
- Must be matched to the psychology internship through the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC)
- Possess a solid foundation in psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention
- Completed or be in the process of completing a formal dissertation and must have successfully defended the dissertation proposal prior to the internship start date.
