Position: Support Specialist for Senior Priests – Casa San Pedro
Reports to: Executive Director of Marywood Retreat & Conference Center
Starting Pay: $19/hr. Full-time

General Summary: The Support Specialist for Senior Priests provides general support services for the senior priests residing at Casa San Pedro, an independent living community on the Marywood Retreat & Conference Center campus, located at 235 Marywood Dr. St. Johns, FL 32259.

General Summary: The Support Specialist for Senior Priests provides general support services for the senior priests residing at Casa San Pedro, an independent living community on the Marywood Retreat & Conference Center campus, located at 235 Marywood Dr. St. Johns, FL 32259.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts regular visits to senior priests to assess needs, safety concerns, makes recommendations, provides solutions, or reaches out to others who may be able to assist.
- Reports any concerns, situations, and/or conditions that may need attention that are beyond the support specialist’s scope of responsibility to the Executive Director of Marywood, while ensuring the Chancellor for Administrative Affairs is made aware.
- Coordinates, schedules, and transports priests to various appointments when needed. Acts as a liaison between the priest and healthcare personnel if desired by the priest or as instructed by diocesan leadership.
- Maintains an accurate recordkeeping system and files for each priest, such as medical records, medications, emergency contact information, healthcare and end-of-life directives, etc., all coordinated through the Office of the Chancellor and priests' personnel files.
- Maintains an accurate checklist of medications for each resident, and if needed, provides medication reminders and orders prescription refills.
- When needed, assists with meals, shopping, and light errands.
- Assists with discharge instructions after a medical procedure or surgery of priest.
- Coordinates travel plans for priests going away for treatment and medical procedures.
- Provides empathetic communication and conversational companionship to senior priests.
- Participates in the assessment of senior priests who need to transition from independent living to assisted living.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- The ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic Church.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Some medical background and familiarity with basic wound care, ability to recognize signs and symptoms of serious or potentially serious health conditions, illnesses, or injuries.
- Experience with caring for and assisting those with diabetes is preferred.
- Willingness to obtain CPR and first-aid certification.
- Previous experience working with the elderly is preferred; a compassionate heart is required.
- Ability to treat and care for residents and their property with dignity and respect.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of each priest and respect their rights and privacy.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license, possess reliable transportation with required diocesan insurance coverage, and the ability to be on time.
- Must maintain a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency; a person with superior organizational skills. Ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive items.
- Must consistently demonstrate a positive, friendly, respectful, and caring attitude to all one serves in word and deed; projecting a welcoming atmosphere to all who visit the residents.
- Requires above-average communication skills including verbal, written, and listening.

- Must successfully pass the required criminal background check prior to employment and maintain this clearance throughout employment.
- Must have the ability to travel and drive one’s vehicle to various locations. Mileage reimbursement available.
