DIRECTOR OF GUIDANCE
PAYROLL GRADE: 15 FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
NATURE OF POSITION
Under limited supervision, plans, implements and assesses the school's guidance and counseling program designed to increase the academic, social, emotional and environmental strengths of students; supervises guidance counselors, assistants other staff as assigned, and performs related professional and administrative duties as required.
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
Reporting Responsibility: Supervisor to Guidance Counselor

Duties May Include Any Or All Of The Following
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
- Provide leadership that assists school counselors and home-school coordinator to achieve model guidance and guidance department goals.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of guidance staff.
- Provide leadership to encourage a variety of effective guidance and counseling procedures for all counseling staff.
- Provide a communication link between the guidance staff and the administrative team.
- Assist principal in the selection process of guidance personnel.
- Perform the duties of a counselor at the assigned grade levels.
- Coordinate an effective system-wide model guidance and counseling program.
- Coordinate and supervise the diocese's system for student records.
- Supervise all aspects of student records in the custodial care of secondary schools.
- Prepare and organize data to complete reports as required for assigned duties.
- Supervise and coordinate assigned funds for the guidance program
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive college preparation program.
- Implement and maintain a local secondary scholarship program.
- Assist students seeking scholarship opportunities.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with students.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with educational staff.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with parents/patrons.
- Participates in professional growth activities.
- Follows the policies and procedures of the diocese and state.
- Assumes responsibilities outside the counseling center as they relate to the school.
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility
- Requires a Master's degree in secondary guidance counseling or related field of study, supplemented by two to three years of experience in school counseling at the secondary level, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Valid state Guidance Counselor certification is preferred.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license.
