School Librarian / Aide
Holy Family School in South Bend is in search of a qualified person to organize the school library and provide learning activities for students in grades pre-k through 3rd on a weekly basis. The ideal candidate will be faith-filled and dedicated to providing quality care for students of all abilities integrating the mission of Holy Family School and the Diocese of Fort Wayne / South Bend in all activities.
Librarian Job Responsibilities Include:

Organize learning activities that foster a nurturing environment and instill in young students a life-long love of reading.

Collaborate with teachers to supplement and support ELA focused learning with students during Library time.

Hold “library class” for groups of students in grades pre-k to 3rd grade. Maximum of 15 class periods per week based on enrollment numbers.

Maintain records of book lending to students in grades pre-k to 3rd grade.

Monitor condition of books in the school library, repairing or replacing as needed.

Work with school administration to schedule and run annual Book Fair during Catholic Schools’ Week.
Additional Responsibilities Include:

Assists with recess and lunchroom duty for elementary age students.

Help with copying, delivering materials to the Office and accompanying children as they move about the building.

Works with students in small groups as directed by Administration during Tiered ELA Intervention periods.

Substitutes when asked for Kdg-3rd grade teacher absences.

Communicates regularly and effectively with the classroom teacher, related arts teachers, and Office personnel regarding Library visit plans.

Works cooperatively with administrators, classroom teachers, other staff, and parents on various initiatives as directed by administration.

Commits to ongoing faith formation and professional growth.

Fosters the spiritual development of students by modeling Catholic doctrine, values, and morals.
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
-
High School Diploma
-
High level thinking and problem solving skills.

Ability to speak and write fluently and grammatically correct English.
-
Ability to speak fluently and translate spoken and written materials from Spanish to English and back is a bonus but not required.

Strong written, verbal presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs,
-
Stand for 30 minutes at a time,
-
Operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment.

Must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.
