What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Minister position at Diocese Of Bridgeport?
Overall Responsibilities:
We are seeking a youth minister who will be responsible for providing spiritual guidance and instruction to the teens in our parish, especially post Confirmation. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with youth and their parents, plan meaningful activities & events, and lead weekly gatherings for spiritual growth and development for our youth post Confirmation and through high school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
× Build on the Confirmation formation program and activities
× Develop, plan and implement spiritual education programs, activities and events
× Lead weekly meetings, mentor and support the youth of the parish
× Model and teach Catholic values and principals, including active participation in Mass
× Create and maintain relationships with our youth and their parents
× Manage and oversee youth programs, including retreats and service opportunities
× Provide spiritual guidance and support
× Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth programs
× Develop future programs to help students in pastoral duties, i.e. visit hospitals
× Mentor our young people to enskill them in turn to become mentors themselves for Confirmation programs.
× The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience/Education/Qualifications/Requirements:
× At least two years’ previous experience
× Knowledge of Sacraments, Scripture and Church
× Continue with ongoing formation with the Diocese of Bridgeport
× Practicing and active Catholic
× Attend weekly staff meetings and other staff events
× Know and implement the Safe Environment policy put in place by the Diocese of Bridgeport
× Ability to complete tasks timely and in accordance with deadlines, ensuring no surprises for leadership of parish
× Knowledge of what is going on in the parish and diocese and assist in interpreting results and projecting futures
× Experience in developing and leading youth programs
× Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Pay: $25,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
