What are the responsibilities and job description for the St. Mary of the Assumption, Decatur - 1st Grade Teacher position at Diocesan AM Services of Fort Wayne?
Religious Formation: Integrate Catholic teachings, prayers, and Gospel values into the daily routine.
Instruction: Develop and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans in core subjects (language arts, math, science, social studies, religion).
Classroom Management: Establish a safe, positive, and disciplined classroom environment using effective, loving management strategies.
Assessment & Communication: Monitor student progress through formative/summative assessments and communicate regularly with parents regarding student achievement and behavior.
Collaboration: Work with colleagues to enhance curriculum and support school-wide instructional goals.
Supervision: Monitor student safety during lunch, recess, and school activities
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is required.
Licensure: State teaching licensure is usually required or strongly preferred, though some private Catholic schools may offer flexibility or alternative certification routes.
Faith and Values: Frequently, a practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred or required, as teachers are expected to model Catholic faith and doctrine.
Experience: Previous experience teaching in an elementary setting is highly desirable, with specific experience in early literacy and foundational math preferred.
