Qualification Requirements

Essential Functions
- Plan and coordinate a building level math program that encompasses science instruction.
- Participate in math curriculum development and assessment building.
- Train and provide staff development at the school and division level on the division’s math curriculum.
- Attend conferences and workshops regarding math achievement and the coaching and leadership of staff.
- Collect and disaggregate school math data as appropriate.
- Coordinate math small groups and schedules and work with teachers to implement these within the classroom.
- Assist teachers with implementing math and science hands on learning across the curriculum.
- Work individually with targeted students needing additional support.
- Organize and facilitate training for parents and community to assist in math progress.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate technology into instruction.
- Maintain inventory of materials and distribution.
- Assist resource teachers with managing Science and STEM labs.
- Organize and implement regularly scheduled Science activities into the school’s math climate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the administration and supervision of all facets of assigned school.
- Thorough knowledge of prescribed School Board policies and procedures.
- Skill in the use of personal computers and related software packages, hardware and peripheral equipment.
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in both oral and written formats.
- Ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, the School Board, elected officials, parents, students and the general public.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Hold a valid Virginia Department of Education Post-Graduate Professional teacher’s license or certification with appropriate endorsement in Elementary Education
- Three (3) years of successful experience as an elementary teacher required.
- Master’s Degree in Education, Math, or Curriculum Endorsement preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Physical Requirements
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
- Work regularly requires speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires pushing or pulling.
- Work has standard vision requirements.
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly.
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound.
- Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
- Must be mobile enough to monitor students in all instructional settings (in school and on school grounds).
- Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
- Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Special Requirements
- Possession of or ability to acquire appropriate license(s), certificate(s) and/or endorsement(s) for position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia or School Board.
- This position may require the operation of division-owned/leased motor vehicles; therefore, the incumbent's driving record will be subject to periodic review, and must be acceptable in accordance with the provisions of the Dinwiddie County School Board's policy manual.

Evaluation
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Dinwiddie County School Board's policy manual.
