INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT-BILINGUAL/JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY 8:15 AM - 2:45 PM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must have AA degree or higher or have (passed) a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics. 2. Assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or assigned learning environment. 3. Reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students as directed by the teacher. 4. Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities. 5. Speak, read and write in English and a designated second language. 6. Provide oral and written translation and interpretation of correspondence, forms, letters, reports and other instructional and educational materials from English to a designated second language. 7. Learn guidelines and materials related to the reading program as assigned by the position. 8. Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans. 9. Read books to students and assist with reading and writing activities as assigned. 10. Understand and follow oral and written directions. 11. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. 12. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 13. Monitor, observe and report student behavior and progress according to approved policies and procedures. Observe health and safety regulations. 14. Operate standard office and classroom equipment. Maintain records and files. 15. Administer first aid and CPR as needed. 16. Must have a Valid First Aid and CPR certificate, Incumbents in this classification are required to speak, read and write in English and a designated second language and pass an oral and written proficiency test in a designated second language.
