Summary: Dime Commercial Bank (Dime) is currently hiring for a Credit Officer C&I/Specialty Finance at its Headquarters in Hauppauge. The Credit Officer C&I/Specialty Finance will approve and renew credit transactions within their approved credit authority. The role will also collaborate with lenders and underwriters to ensure that credit requests are well structured and well written and will work with Dime’s lines of business to keep credit policies and procedures updated and in compliance with federal regulations. The Credit Officer C&I/Specialty Finance provides independent credit judgment on complex middle-market and large commercial relationships, establishes credit risk standards, and collaborates with necessary parties and executive leadership to ensure prudent risk management across the loan portfolio.

Salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $165,000 to $185,000 annually. The exact compensation may vary based on relevant experience, skills, education, training, licensure and certifications, and location.

Responsibilities:

• Independently evaluate, approve, decline, or recommend new commercial transactions, renewals, and modifications within delegated lending authority, ensuring sound credit judgment and adherence to the Bank’s risk appetite.
• Maintain oversight of the Bank’s risk rating framework, including the assignment, validation, and periodic review of borrower risk ratings to ensure consistency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with lending and underwriting teams in the structuring of credit transactions, providing independent credit risk oversight for middle market, commercial, and specialty finance exposures, including assessment of borrower performance, industry risks, transaction structure, collateral support, and repayment capacity.
• Conduct preliminary credit assessments of large transactions to identify material risks, structural considerations, and policy issues prior to formal underwriting and approval.
• Ensure Credit Approval Requests conform to established Credit Policy, underwriting standards, approval authorities, and documentation requirements; ensuring exceptions are clearly identified, appropriately justified, and accurately documented.
• Support the development, implementation, maintenance, periodic enhancement of C&I Credit Policy and Procedures to ensure alignment with the Bank’s risk management objectives and regulatory expectations.
• Participate in C&I portfolio reviews and credit quality assessments, identifying emerging risks, industry trends, concentrations, and adverse credit migration within the portfolio.
• Perform additional responsibilities and undertake special projects as assigned that support the ingoing enhancement of the Banks credit risk management framework.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years’ banking experience where the majority were spent on C&I loan approval or C&I underwriting.
• Equipment Finance & Franchise Lending experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrative experience in C&I credit analysis, underwriting, and transaction structuring essential.
• Completion of formal commercial credit training program preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office and Sageworks (or similar system).
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
