LPN Instructor

Schedule:        Follows the LPN calendar within the DTA contract

Pay Rate:         Salary in accordance with the D.T.A. salary schedule

Qualifications:

MA in Nursing Education preferred; BSN, Massachusetts Nursing licensure and equivalent 3 years clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing setting required

Responsibilities:

Responsible for clinical/laboratory instruction, supervision and evaluation of students enrolled in the practical nursing program (full and part – time programs).

Job Description:

• Recommends clinical promotion, graduation, probation/warning or dismissal of students from the program
• Participates and attends all meetings of the nursing faculty
• Assists with the maintenance of an annual laboratory/clinical supplies inventory
• Conducts and supervises laboratory/clinical work as assigned
• Prepares, conducts, and coordinates clinical conferences
• Supervises the nursing practice of students in the nursing laboratory and clinical setting and/or virtual simulation
• Plans with other faculty the correlation of clinical practice materials
• Assists with students in the clinical area to relate classroom instruction to the needs of patients
• Observes, identifies, and evaluates student progress in clinical practice toward achievement of stated goals, level and program objectives via the use of anecdotal and other clinical records/assignments/resources.
• Through conferences, provides students with accurate information about their clinical status, strengths and weaknesses
• Assists students in self-evaluation of clinical performance, thus promoting student growth
• Provides students with an opportunity for self/clinical course/clinical supervisor evaluations
• To provide effective instruction in assigned areas, uses evaluation tools – program/clinical course/clinical supervisor/student, to provide information which assists faculty in decision making
• Evaluates one’s own clinical instruction techniques
• Seeks additional knowledge to maintain and improve nursing knowledge/clinical instruction

Salary : $54,006 - $105,678
