Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and skin assessments.
- Assist dermatologists with procedures such as dermal injections like botulinum toxin.
- Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with collaborative practice agreements while adhering to DEA regulations.
- Educate patients on skin conditions, treatment options, skincare routines, and post-procedure care to promote optimal outcomes.
- Perform minor procedures including suturing, lesion removal, and aseptic techniques ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Collect clinical data for research initiatives or clinical trials aimed at advancing dermatological science and patient care standards.
- Requirements
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification to practice in the state.
- Proven experience in outpatient dermatology or related specialties such as esthetic laser treatment or skin surgery.
- Strong knowledge of dermatological conditions, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency with CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9).
- Ability to perform physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and patient assessments efficiently.
- Experience administering injections (including botulinum toxin), suturing techniques, and aseptic procedures.
- Familiarity with healthcare diagnosis processes including triage, acute pain management, and post-procedure discharge planning.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Additional skills such as telehealth experience or involvement in clinical research are considered advantageous.
