Under general supervision of the Director of General Services, responsible for receiving, ensures accountability of records, manage reports collectively, storing, maintaining and shipping supplies, materials, equipment and commodities for the Winslow Indian Health Care Center (WIHCC), Dilkon Medical Center (DMC) and Leupp clinic. Under General Services, Material Handler shall provide direction, guidance and documentation on receiving and accepting procedures and ensures all incoming supplies and equipment are documented and signed by the designated individual(s) at the time shipment is received. Safeguards Winslow Indian Health Care Center’s assets by identifying and locating such assets. Uphold the principles of WIHCC’s Vision, Mission, and Value Statements. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information at all times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs tasks related to inspecting, receiving, accepting, processing, reporting, storing and distributing of orders, supplies, materials and/or equipment for the support of the WIHCC and outlying clinics.
- Receives all shipments and assures shipments are accurate, properly reported and stored in the appropriate storage area assuring appropriate temperature, humidity and safety.
- Verifies that all shipments received have proper purchase documentation before distributing or releasing order.
- Completes receiving report, compiles electronic purchase documentation file and saves in designated share drive for Finance to access.
- Performs and assists with physical inventories of property and equipment.
- Assists in identifying applicable property and equipment that require tagging. Will gather necessary documentation to report to Inventory/Equipment Specialist for recording in inventory system.
- Assists Inventory/Equipment Specialist with maintaining a record of transferred, damaged, disposed of, and obsolete assets.
- Assists and performs transportation services including but not limited to lab courier services, supplies, cardboard bails, mail, equipment and fleet.
- Assist with transporting obsolete or damaged equipment to an off-site asset disposition organization.
- Performs tasks related to organizing, controlling and managing the General Services supply room, including receiving, processing, storage, distribution and restocking of supplies for the support of the WIHCC and outlying clinics.
- Ensures inventory of stocked supplies is adequate and maintains a record of the distribution of supplies.
- Assists with procuring stocked supplies using WIHCC procurement policies.
- Assures storage rooms are maintained in an orderly and clean manner.
- Ensures General Services remains in compliance with safety and accreditation standards.
- Schedules emergency trips to internal and external service delivery areas, as necessary, to pick up supplies/equipment/etc.
- Prepares shipping documentation for other departments sending a package or correspondence and monitors packages/correspondence sent is received by other party.
- Delivers interdepartmental and incoming/outgoing postal mail to the Mailroom.
- Upholds all principles of confidentiality, customer service and patient care to the fullest extent.

- Adheres to WIHCCs Personnel Policies and Procedures, departmental policies, rules, and regulations.
- Adheres to WIHCC Safety Standards and regulations.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. One year of warehouse or distribution experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Bilingual skills in English and Navajo language preferred. Must maintain a valid unrestricted and insurable driver’s license. Must successfully pass a background investigation and maintain suitable requirements for a Child Care position. This position is considered as a Child Care position, which requires a satisfactory background check investigation and is subject to the requirements of the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, as amended (henceforth referred as the ICPFVP Act).

Physical Demands:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and equipment, reach with hands and arms, and communicate effectively by talking and hearing. The employee frequently must stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and may occasionally use taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office setting or outdoor work environment with moderate noise levels. Work environment may involve exposure to physical risks, such as blood borne pathogens, hazardous chemicals, or operating potential dangerous equipment, and requires adherence to all safety protocols. Required work schedules may include evening, weekend, overnight shifts, extended hours, or irregular schedules and rotation as operational needs dictate.
As required by P.L. 93-638, absolute preference will be given to qualified Navajo applicants. If there is no qualified Navajo applicant, preference will be given to qualified American Indian applicants.
