What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Business Development Partner - Manufacturing AI position at Digitillis?
Digitillis is seeking two or more Regional Business Development Partners to help develop customer relationships and commercial opportunities across the U.S. manufacturing sector.
This remote opportunity is open to candidates throughout the United States, with a preference for professionals based in or near major manufacturing markets such as Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Columbus, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis–St. Paul, Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Greenville–Spartanburg. Territory coverage will be determined based on each selected partner’s location, industry relationships, sector knowledge, and existing account network.
About Digitillis
Digitillis is an AI-powered manufacturing decision-intelligence platform that turns industrial data into prioritized, explainable actions.
Our platform brings together equipment, sensor, operational, and enterprise data to help manufacturers anticipate failures, improve production performance, optimize maintenance and workforce decisions, and measure operational improvements in financial terms.
The opportunity
We are looking for business development professionals with established manufacturing relationships and a practical understanding of Industry 4.0 and IT/OT environments.
You will identify and develop qualified opportunities with manufacturing organizations. Digitillis’s leadership and technical teams will participate in demonstrations, technical discovery, solution development, proposals, and closing. You will remain actively involved throughout the process, helping navigate the customer organization and move opportunities toward signed agreements.
This role may be particularly suitable for an independent sales professional, manufacturing consultant, industry advisor, or business development leader who can create opportunities through an established network.
Location: Remote within the United States
Engagement: Independent contractor
Travel: Limited, as needed for strategic customer meetings
What you will do
- Identify manufacturers whose operational challenges align with Digitillis’s capabilities.
- Use existing relationships to engage qualified decision-makers and internal champions.
- Build relationships with operations executives, plant managers, maintenance and reliability leaders, engineering teams, and IT/OT stakeholders.
- Conduct initial discovery around operational problems, business impact, urgency, stakeholders, and current technology.
- Position Digitillis around outcomes such as reduced downtime, increased throughput, improved quality, optimized maintenance, and measurable ROI.
- Coordinate demonstrations, technical evaluations, and pilot discussions with Digitillis.
- Help define paid pilots with clear business objectives, success criteria, and conversion paths.
- Identify procurement, security, integration, and organizational requirements.
- Maintain customer engagement and commercial momentum through contract execution.
- Register opportunities and maintain accurate pipeline information.
- Develop relationships with system integrators, automation providers, and relevant industry partners.
- Provide feedback on customer needs, competitors, objections, pricing, and market opportunities.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in B2B sales, enterprise business development, strategic partnerships, or consultative selling.
- Experience working with manufacturing or industrial-technology customers.
- Existing relationships with manufacturing executives, plant leaders, operations teams, IT/OT stakeholders, system integrators, or automation providers.
- Understanding of Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation.
- Working knowledge of IT/OT environments and industrial systems.
- Familiarity with technologies such as MES, ERP, CMMS, SCADA, historians, PLCs, IIoT, OPC-UA, MQTT, industrial analytics, or digital twins.
- Ability to translate technical capabilities into operational and financial outcomes.
- Experience navigating complex sales involving multiple technical and business stakeholders.
- Strong discovery, relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, results-oriented engagement.
- Willingness to remain involved throughout the sales process—not only provide introductions.
- Availability for limited travel when an in-person meeting can materially advance an opportunity.
- Experience with predictive maintenance, asset performance, industrial AI, production optimization, manufacturing analytics, or industrial automation is especially valuable.
We are open to candidates at different career stages, but preference will be given to professionals with relevant industry relationships and demonstrated success developing complex manufacturing opportunities.
Engagement structure
This is a remote, independent contractor opportunity with commission-based compensation and no fixed base salary. Commission is earned on eligible customer opportunities that the partner originates, registers with Digitillis, actively helps advance through the sales process, and that result in revenue collected by Digitillis.
The partner will work with Digitillis’s leadership and technical teams during discovery, demonstrations, pilot development, proposals, negotiations, and closing. Making an introduction alone does not automatically qualify for the full commission; the partner is expected to remain meaningfully involved through contract execution. Commission percentages, eligible revenue, payment timing, account-registration requirements, renewals, and post-termination protections will be discussed during the interview process and documented in the independent contractor agreement.
The initial engagement is expected to run for six months, with the possibility of renewal or expansion based on pipeline development, qualified opportunities, and commercial results.
