Job Summary

On behalf of our U.S.-based client in the Insurance Technology sector, we are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Application Engineer to support and enhance critical policy and claims management applications. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom business applications used by internal stakeholders and external partners. The ideal candidate brings strong front-end development expertise combined with full stack capabilities and experience working with enterprise-level business systems, along with the ability to engage effectively with external clients, vendors, and business leadership. Candidates can join this fully remote engagement through full-time, part-time, or contractual arrangements, depending on project requirements and mutual suitability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain custom policy and claims management business applications
• Build and enhance user-facing web applications using modern front-end technologies
• Develop and optimize backend services, APIs, and database integrations
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions
• Support system integrations across multiple business applications
• Troubleshoot performance, reliability, and scalability issues
• Work closely with vendors and external partners to support application enhancements and implementations
• Participate in application architecture discussions and technology roadmaps
• Maintain data integrity and application security standards
• Provide technical guidance and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle
  
  

Required Skills

• 6–8 years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java, SQL, and React or Angular
• Strong front-end development expertise combined with full stack capabilities
• Experience working with enterprise-level business systems
• Ability to interact confidently with business stakeholders, vendors, and customers
• Strong understanding of software architecture, scalability, and data integrity principles
  
  

Good to Have

• Experience in Insurance, Reinsurance, or broader Financial Services applications
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines
• Familiarity with policy administration or claims management system environments
• Experience developing backend APIs and integrations
• Knowledge of ASP.NET environments or cross-platform enterprise application ecosystems
• Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform)
  
  

AI Experience

• Exposure to AI-driven coding tools, including GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or comparable platforms, to support efficient software development, debugging, and code optimization is desirable.
• Interest in applying AI-assisted tools for code review, testing, or documentation
  
  

Managerial Experience

• This is an individual contributor role with client-facing responsibilities; candidates should demonstrate the ability to engage confidently with business leadership, vendors, and external partners, and to provide technical guidance to the broader team
  
  

Operational Experience

• Proven experience managing, enhancing, and modernizing production-grade enterprise applications to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Experience with system integrations across multiple business applications
• Experience troubleshooting performance, reliability, and scalability issues
• Familiarity with maintaining data integrity and application security standards
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6–8 years of hands-on professional experience in full-stack application development, with expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable enterprise applications.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote, distributed environment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  
  

Certifications (Preferred, Not Mandatory)

• Any relevant Java, cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP), or enterprise architecture certification is a plus
