Department: Digital Learning

Reports To: Coordinator of Digital Learning

Salary Range: $34,885.47 to $45,000.00, annually

Position Type: Exempt

Schedule:11-month school Calendar for digital staff

Primary Role and the School Culture:

In order to support the culture and vision of PSAS, the Instructional Coach is to be an advisor in the role of recruitment/engagement, retention, and re-engagement strategies for online students. The position will work closely with other assigned mentors to recruit, enroll, retain, and engage online students. In particular, for students who have fallen behind on their weekly engagement sessions or fallen behind on their academic progress and performance. Students who have a relationship with their mentor, built on trust, will have a greater chance of success than any other student would have. This position will be held to a high level of accountability and responsibility for ensuring student success. This means student engagement, academic success, course completion, retention, wraparound services, dropout prevention, and graduation. The position is also responsible for monitoring and enforcing building safety, security, and assisting in planning and implementing student programs. 



EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED:

  • 2 Year Degree or Equivilant Experience

 

PREFERRED:

  • Colorado Teaching License
  • Previous experience teaching in the K-12 environment
  • Previous experience teaching at a charter school
  • Background in online education either as a student or as a professional delivering online education, is preferred
  • Demonstrated technology proficiencies in the use of Microsoft Office, Internet, Simple Webpage building, Electronic Gradebook, ACT Work Keys, and Email
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team and create instructional units
  • Verifiable experience dealing with conflict resolution
  • Ability to work with digital tools, applications, and educational programs 
  • Experience working with Individual Student Plans (504, GT, ELL, ESS, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated implementation and use of instructional strategies to promote student engagement

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Primary Skills and Responsibilities

 

The role of the Instructional Coach at PSAS is a position that is designed to engage- re engage the students who have fallen behind in their weekly engagement sessions or fallen behind in their academic progress and performance. This position is designed as quality assurance for our students; to ensure that Instructional Coaches have exhausted all strategies and approaches to re-engageing the student in their education. At PSAS, we have the moral and ethical responsibility to do everything we can to engage students for success. Students that have a relationship with their Coach built on trust will have a greater chance of success than any other student would have.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and problem-solving at the school and community level to improve the educational experience of our students.
  • Identify struggling students in the school through our MTSS process and provide case management services for those students utilizing the tools provided through training and in partnership with the school.
  • Facilitate understanding by student and family of school requirements toward graduation and available options for earning a diploma through various supports and  options.
  • Deliver direct service to students and their families(based on Coach’s qualifications) to eliminate barriers and address challenges affecting educational attainment.
  • Work with other Coaches to identify needs across the school and contribute to the conversation around distributing and providing resources to have the greatest impact on student success.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Spend the majority of time in the field assisting students.
    • Provide Home Visits as needed
    • Support Students at our Drop in Zone
  • Monitor and record student attendance to identify and provide interventions to students who are not actively engaged in school.
  • Ensure quality and timely documentation of all interventions provided.
  • Actively recruit new students through community partnerships and events utilizing PSAS marketing materials.
  • Proctor STAR and all state-mandated assessments dependent on advisory case loads.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Responsibilities

  1. Work at a desk, conference table, or in various meeting configurations.
  2. Have the ability to circulate the classroom or instructional environment.
  3. Hear and understand speech with/without aides at normal levels.
  4. Be able to see with/without aides close up, at a distance, and have depth perception.
  5. Communicate with others and be clearly understood in normal conversations.
  6. Bend, twist, stoop, kneel, run, crawl, and reach in all directions.
  7. Carry up to 25 pounds.

Other Duties and Requirements

  1. Other duties as assigned by the director, principal, or designee. 
  2. The ability to work occasional evenings to support all programs including field trips, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other supporting events. 
  3. The ability to monitor students before/after school or during lunch and recess. 
  4. In person face to face days at teh Drop in Zone 3-4 days a week.

 

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Participation in payroll automatic deposit.
