The Lighting Department is a growing and strategic division within DRI, focused on delivering engineered theatrical lighting and control systems for auditoriums, performing arts centers, civic venues, and houses of worship.
Position Overview
Digital Resources Inc is seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Lighting Systems CAD Specialist to join our Lighting Department.
This role is drafting and engineering-focused. You will work directly with the Lighting Systems Engineer, Director of Lighting and Rigging, project managers, and field teams to produce full shop drawing packages and submittal documentation for permanent theatrical lighting installations.
You will serve as the bridge between engineered intent and field execution, ensuring every drawing set is accurate, coordinated, and constructible.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce comprehensive shop drawings and submittal packages for theatrical lighting systems
- Develop conduit schedules and cable routing documentation
- Create system line drawings, risers, and signal flow diagrams
- Generate elevations and plan views for lighting positions and rack layouts
- Review and validate Bills of Materials for accuracy and completeness
- Assemble and manage cut sheet submittals aligned with project specifications
- Interpret consultant drawings, Division 11 specifications, and design-build documentation
- Apply working knowledge of NEC standards and construction practices to drawing production
- Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, and Field Teams to ensure install clarity
- Maintain drawing standards, layering conventions, and version control
- Utilize Revit, Vectorworks, and Bluebeam for drafting and documentation workflows
Qualifications
- Proficient in Vectorworks and Bluebeam
- Working knowledge of Revit required
- Understanding of Theatrical Lighting System (DMX / sACN / Networked Systems)
- 2 to 5 years of experience in CAD drafting, AVL system documentation, or theatrical system design
- Understanding of theatrical lighting systems, including ETC, Vari-Lite, Elation, Chauvet, Lyntec
- Basic understanding of networked AV signal flow and control infrastructure
- Strong attention to detail and document accuracy
- Ability to interpret construction documents and consultant specifications
- Must be based in the DFW metroplex. Position is primarily in-office with hybrid flexibility
Preferred
- CTS or CTS-D certification
- Vetorwork Certifications (connect CAD, spotlight)
- Experience with permanent integration environments
- Familiarity with engineered lighting control systems and distributed dimming architectures
