What are the responsibilities and job description for the Qt Software Developer position at Digital Pore Solutions?
About the job
Role Description
Digital Pore Solutions (https://digitalpore.com/) is growing the team behind our Digital Rock Technology (DRT) software suite. We are looking for a front-end Qt Software Developer who can build the interfaces that let users configure, run, and steer sophisticated pore-scale and multiphase flow simulations, as well as present large datasets for intuitive interpretation. You will sit at the intersection of software craftsmanship and scientific communication, working closely with our domain scientists to make complex subsurface models approachable for geoscientists, engineers, and clients alike.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain DPS’s front-end GUI, working closely with the underlying simulation and analysis modules.
- Translate complex scientific outputs into visual interfaces that are intuitive for end users.
- Champion UX best practices across the suite: refine workflows, reduce friction, and iterate on interaction design based on user feedback.
- Bring an eye for visual and aesthetic quality to every screen, dialog, and data view you touch.
- Collaborate with domain scientists, back-end engineers, and product stakeholders to shape the GUI's roadmap and architecture.
Qualifications
- Front-end software development experience with demonstrated expertise in Qt (Widgets and/or QML).
- Strong skills in Python.
- Experience with modern C (C 23).
- Experience building software for scientific or technical analysis applications.
- An understanding of how to present complicated scientific data to the user.
- An eye for aesthetic quality that yields a genuinely pleasant user experience.
- Experience with version control (e.g., Git).
- Experience with modern CI/CD practices (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
Stand-Out Skills
- Experience with 3D rendering of scientific data (e.g., VTK, OpenGL, Qt3D).
- Experience working with large and complex scientific datasets (e.g., HDF5, NetCDF, Zarr, Dask).
- Experience working within large software projects comprising many interdependent submodules or repositories.
