UNHS is hiring (1) Full-Time (FT) positions for a Victim Advocate in Gallup, New Mexico.

Requirements
- Write victim statements. Translate or interpret documents for victims.
- Interview victims of crime.
- Assist victims to access court orders.
- Support victims preparing for court testimony and hearings..
- Interface with multiple law enforcement agencies.
- Attend and complete all training assignments, such as MedTrainer, 40 hours Advocacy, and sexual assault training.
- Accept and interact with medical providers making referrals.
- Engage and respond to victims and families requesting assistance. Assist victims and their families with CVRC, including funeral planning.
- Answer hotline call 24/7.
- Provide case management services.
- Provide emotional support to traumatized victims of crime.
- Be a liaison between law enforcement and victims.
- Frequent interactions with behavioral health staff regarding psychological trauma needs of victims.
- Advocate for patients regarding their medical, legal, housing, financial, rehabilitation and counseling needs.
- Assist victims needing assistance to access traditional/spiritual Navajo healing practices.
- Travel significant distances to meet with victims and UNHS Victim Advocates.
- Coordinate and collaborate with local law enforcement, FBI, Navajo Nation Division of Social Services, and Navajo Nation Courts.
- Become familiar with state and tribal domestic violence and sexual assault laws.
- Be trauma-informed.
- Document client encounters, agency encounters, and maintain documentation for program reporting purposes.
- Maintain client interaction on program software (Cap60).
- Respond to crisis calls to provide intervention.
- Coordinate transportation for the victim involved in a crime to where they need to go.
- Create invoices, uploading receipts and clearing transactions in company app (Bill).
- General Computer skills required. Have the ability to navigate Google software. Must be able to learn new softward applications, such as CAP60.
One year working in victim services, and/or behavioral health, and/or human services.
Experience, Training, And Qualifications Needed To Perform The Job
- Bachelor’s Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requisite to adequately fulfill the duties/responsibilities of this position.
- Fluently read, write, and speak the English language. Speak Navajo language preferred.
- General computer skills required. Have the ability to navigate Google software. Must be able to learn new software applications, such as CAP60.
- Physical Ability: Able to lift 50 lbs. or more. Stand for long periods of time during crisis calls and situations.
- Have a current and valid driver’s license and be able to meet the organization’s driver insurability requirements.
- Successfully pass a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
- Possess a current CPR certification, or certify within 90 days.
- Gain and maintain ASIST certification every 2 years
The Immunizations/vaccinations Include But Not Limited To Following
- MMR (Measles Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella): Documentation of two MMR vaccines (OR) Documentation of MMR titers.
- Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series (3 doses), documented proof of titers indicating immunity, or a declination that may be signed upon arrival.
- Proof of up-to-date PPD skin testing, if previously negative (OR) Proof of positive PPD skin test with the most recent chest x-ray and treatment history.
- Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap).
- Varicella titers, history of varicella or varicella immunization series.
- Influenza vaccine for the current year.
- COVID-19 vaccine
- Any other vaccinations as requested.
