Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineering Co-op to join our team for a dynamic and hands-on internship experience. This role is ideal for engineering students (computer, electrical, or software/firmware) who are interested in the technical aspects of medical device development.
You’ll work directly with experienced engineers and consultants on a wide variety of projects including system design support, documentation, testing, and even client-facing activities like proposal development and client meetings. This is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience in the medical device industry while building both technical skills and business acumen. DHS is flexible in accommodating academic schedules and is looking for candidates that are able to start immediately.
This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Engineering Co-op position based in Andover, MA. The individual will contribute to product development by assisting in electrical design, testing, and troubleshooting of medical devices. Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing experimental setups for electrical systems, analyzing test data, and preparing technical documentation to meet quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the characterization and test of electrical issues via hands-on debugging
- Support hands-on engineering activities such as soldering, wiring, cable creation, and prototype development
- Utilize Altium to design boards, draft schematics, and decide layout and routing
- Participate in design reviews and verification/validation efforts
- Collaborate with engineers to review datasheets, perform research, and assist with part/component evaluations
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering principles and basic knowledge of electrical systems and interest in medical device development.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with Altium designer schematic creation, PCB design, and layout/routing.
- Detail-oriented with strong communication skills and documentation abilities
- Familiarity with electrical engineering tools (e.g., software like C, and measurement equipment like oscilloscopes and multimeters)
- Ability to meet deadlines, work in a team setting, and adhere to compliance and regulatory standards.
