Cybersecurity Engineer / Security Architect

Digital Consultants seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer / Security Architect to support the NCATS Cybersecurity Support Services contract. This role will serve as the technical cybersecurity authority responsible for designing secure architectures and implementing cybersecurity controls supporting NCATS research and enterprise systems. The Cybersecurity Engineer will collaborate with system owners, developers, and cybersecurity personnel to integrate security controls into system architectures supporting scientific research environments and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Duties to include:

• Design and implement secure cybersecurity architectures supporting NCATS systems.
• Integrate NIST SP 800-53 security controls into system architectures.
• Provide engineering support for hybrid cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
• Support implementation of Zero Trust security architecture principles.
• Perform security architecture reviews and system design assessments.
• Support configuration and oversight of firewall policies and network security controls.
• Provide guidance on secure system design and development practices.
• Support development of security architecture documentation and diagrams.
• Collaborate with ISSOs and cybersecurity analysts to support compliance and continuous monitoring activities.
• Provide recommendations for improving security posture across research and enterprise systems.

• Clearance: Public Trust or ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
• Certifications: CISSP, CCSP, or AWS Security Specialty preferred.
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.

Experience:

• 10 years of experience supporting cybersecurity engineering or security architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to serve as the technical cybersecurity authority supporting complex IT environments.
• Experience supporting federal cybersecurity programs implementing NIST security frameworks
• Strong experience designing secure system architectures.
• Experience implementing NIST security controls in system environments.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture principles.
• Experience supporting cloud security engineering and hybrid environments.
• Experience conducting security architecture reviews and compliance validation.
• Understanding of federal cybersecurity requirements, including FISMA and RMF.
• Physical Requirements: The candidate must be able to travel to other worksites as required and with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to sit, stand, use computers and monitors, and perform duties in an office environment for extended periods. The candidate must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion (e.g., moving a case of paper or similar task) that may occur occasionally.

Compensation and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $150,000 – 180,000, depending on experience.
