Every project we take on reflects our dedication to quality, innovation, and client satisfaction.

Position Overview

The HR Manager at DCC’s Mountainside, NJ facility, will serve as the firmwide HR leader, owning the full HR function for both NJ and Massachusetts plants and acting as a strategic partner to operational leadership. This role combines hands-on people leadership with program ownership across talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, benefits, compliance, and culture. You will manage the HR Generalist supporting the facility, set the standard for HR service delivery on site, and partner closely with the CFO, and Plant General Manager to align workforce strategy with operational and business objectives.

The ideal candidate is proactive, solution-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where excellence is expected and celebrated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the talent acquisition strategy including workforce planning with the Plant GM, oversight of the full-cycle recruitment process executed by the HR Generalist, and direct ownership of recruitment for salaried, supervisory, and key technical roles.
  • Design and oversee the onboarding program for the facility, ensuring new hires are productive quickly, integrated into the DCC culture, and supported through their first 90 days; supervise the HR Generalist’s execution of onboarding logistics.
  • Lead employee relations at the facility, owning complex investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution; coach supervisors and managers on people decisions and serve as the escalation point for matters that exceed the HR Generalist’s scope.
  • Oversee payroll administration in Paycom for the facility, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper controls; review and approve wage adjustments, retroactive pay, and corrections processed by the HR Generalist, and partner with the CFO and corporate finance on payroll-related accruals and reporting.
  • Ensure HRIS data integrity for the facility in Paycom, including org structure, position management, job descriptions, and compliance records; partner with Leadership on system enhancements, reporting standards, and audit readiness.
  • Own benefits administration at the facility level, including open enrollment execution, escalated employee questions, qualifying life events, and broker/carrier coordination; partner with corporate HR on benefits strategy, plan design feedback, and renewal cycles.
  • Hold accountability for compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws at the facilities including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, EEO/affirmative action reporting, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and OSHA-related HR matters; manage audits, agency inquiries, and required filings.
  • Drive the performance management process at the facilities including annual review cycles, goal setting, calibration sessions with leadership, performance improvement plans, and succession planning for key roles.
  • Build and maintain the training and development curriculum for the facility, including required compliance training (harassment prevention, workplace safety, EEO), supervisor and manager development, and skills-based training in partnership with operations leadership.
  • Set the employee engagement and retention strategy for the facility, including survey design, action planning, recognition programs, and culture-building activities that reinforce DCC’s values and reduce turnover.
  • Oversee the offboarding process, handle involuntary terminations and reductions in force in partnership with legal counsel, conduct senior-level exit interviews, and use offboarding data to inform retention and engagement strategy.
  • Own HR analytics and reporting for the facilities, including turnover, time-to-fill, headcount, labor cost trends, and engagement metrics; present insights and recommendations to facility and corporate leadership on a regular cadence.
  • Partner with Leadership to drive consistency in policies, procedures, and best practices across DCC facilities.
  • Manage and contribute to enterprise HR projects and initiatives, including acquisition integration support, policy development, compensation reviews, and continuous improvement of HR operations across the platform.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; advanced degree a plus. 7 years of progressive HR experience with at least 2 years in a people management or HR leadership role.
  • Proven experience with Paycom HRIS or similar payroll and HR management systems, including responsibility for system administration, reporting, and audit oversight in addition to transactional processing.
  • Deep working knowledge of federal, New Jersey and Massachusetts state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, PFML, wage and hour regulations, and the ability to advise leadership on complex employment matters.
  • Manufacturing, printing, or packaging industry experience strongly preferred, with demonstrated success leading HR in a production environment that includes both salaried and hourly/blue-collar workforces.
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent senior HR certification strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership presence and communication skills, with proven ability to coach managers, influence senior leadership, and build credibility with hourly employees and supervisors alike.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Strategic problem-solving mindset with sound judgment in ambiguous or high-stakes employee situations, and the ability to balance employee advocacy with business needs.
  • Strong ownership mentality; comfortable operating as the senior HR leader on site with significant autonomy while collaborating effectively with corporate HR and cross-functional partners.
