NOW HIRING UNDERGROUND UTILITY FOREMAN
Job Summary:
Oversee and manage the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utility systems, including but not limited to water mains, sewer mains, drainage and detention systems, and other underground infrastructure. This position requires a skilled professional who can lead a team, ensure safety compliance, coordinate with various stakeholders, and maintain high quality standards in all aspects of underground utility work.
Safety Management
- Enforce and adhere to all safety regulations, including OSHA standards and company policies.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and equipment inspections before starting work.
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards in the work environment.
Project Planning and Execution
- Interpret blueprints, job orders, and specifications to plan construction paths and work sequences.
- Coordinate with OUPS 811 and other utility providers for locates and damage prevention.
- Supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utilities.
- Ensure proper installation techniques are followed for various utility systems.
Crew Management
- Lead and supervise a team of skilled workers and equipment operators.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members based on their skills and project requirements.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to develop team members' skills.
- Report all crew requests for time off, appointments, etc. to General Superintendent for approval and scheduling.
Equipment and Resource Management
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and care of equipment and vehicles.
- Ensure that daily inspections of equipment are conducted and report any issues or malfunctions.
- Manage inventory of materials and supplies needed for projects.
Quality Control
- Verify that all work conforms to specifications and industry and/or municipality standards.
- Perform quality checks on completed work and address any deficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during projects.
Communication and Reporting
- Maintain clear communication with management, crew members, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare and submit daily progress reports, time sheets, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with other departments and external parties as needed for project completion.
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Valid state driver’s license.
· One to two years of related experience desired.
· Able to complete physically demanding work.
· Able to lift and carry heavy objects.
· Good hand-eye-foot coordination and sense of balance.
· Able to kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward spaces
· Ability to safely enter and exit all equipment.
